Sothik Scan lets you photograph documents, import selected images, edit pages, and create PDFs. Scanning and PDF creation take place on your device using Google ML Kit Document Scanner and Android components. The app accesses camera capture and images you select for these features. It does not upload your documents to Sothik IT merely because you scan or save them locally.
Document titles, file locations, page counts, sizes, dates, transfer links, license settings, and cloud settings are stored locally. Exported PDFs are saved in device storage and may be accessible to other apps you authorize or to your device backup provider. Uninstalling the app may not remove exported PDFs or device backups.
Sothik Scan supports different transfer methods. The method used depends on the app release and the option selected. Local scanning and saving do not require a cloud transfer.
Cloud PC portal: When you choose Send to PC, the app sends the PDF, an image of every page, and the document title to Cloudflare R2 storage used by Sothik IT. When you explicitly select Public + Catbox, the service also attempts to upload the PDF and every page image to Catbox as third-party mirrors. This option allows 50 MB total and provides public portal access for up to 90 days; Catbox has independent retention and deletion rules. Private transfer is the default. Some older public-portal versions attempted Catbox mirroring automatically. These copies can be accessed by anyone with the public link or transfer code. Treat the code and links as sharing information, and use a trusted private destination for confidential files.
Private-transfer builds: Builds using our private-transfer endpoint instead store files in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket, create no Catbox mirrors, and require a long randomly generated download link. The private endpoint checks the selected expiry for the page and each file: 24 hours for Standard (10 MB total) or 1 hour for Quick (50 MB total). A short reference code alone cannot open a private transfer. Anyone receiving the full link can access or forward it until expiry. Private and public portals have different access rules; installing an update does not make earlier public uploads private.
Local Wi-Fi: The Android app includes a local HTTP service for companion discovery, document listing, downloading, and receiving files over the network. Discovery can expose device name, device identifier, local IP address, and port. Other reachable devices can access shared document metadata and files while the service runs; the current service does not require a pairing password or provide HTTPS transport. Use it only on a trusted network. Local Wi-Fi transfers do not require uploading the document to the cloud portal.
If you use Android Share, Save to Cloud, or a document provider, the selected app or provider receives the files you choose. If you configure WebDAV or Nextcloud, the app sends PDFs to your chosen server using the server URL and credentials you enter. Use an HTTPS endpoint. Cloud settings and credentials are stored in app-private preferences. The chosen provider's privacy and retention rules apply.
The free app uses Google AdMob; free download pages use Google AdSense. Google's advertising services may collect device or advertising identifiers, IP address (which can indicate approximate location), ad interactions, app usage, diagnostics, and device information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Web pages may use cookies or similar technology. This does not mean the app sends document contents to Google as advertising data.
Cloudflare, Google, Catbox for public-portal uploads, and any cloud provider you select may receive technical information such as IP addresses, request times, and device/browser information when you connect to their services. These providers may process data outside Bangladesh. Their own policies also apply: Google privacy policy, Cloudflare privacy policy, and Catbox privacy policy.
PRO removes advertising placements controlled by the app for PRO use; providers may still process operational request data. Sothik IT does not sell your scanned documents.
Local scans and settings remain until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall, subject to Android storage and backup behavior. You can remove exported files through Android's Files app. Deleting a local document does not delete its uploaded copies.
The private-transfer endpoint expires download access after the selected 1-hour or 24-hour period; access expiry does not itself erase stored objects. Public-portal and Catbox copies have separate retention rules and may remain accessible independently of any session timer shown in the app. A displayed transfer duration is not a guarantee that all stored or downloaded copies have been deleted. Stored Sothik copies remain until removed by an authorized operator or a configured storage retention process. Request deletion by email below. We cannot guarantee removal of recipients' copies or third-party mirrors.
To request deletion of a Sothik-hosted upload, email [email protected] with the transfer code or download URL. Do not attach the sensitive document itself. We may ask for information needed to verify the request. Removal from Sothik storage cannot recall recipients' copies. For Catbox copies or another provider, contact that provider as well; we can help identify the relevant links.
Cloud PC uploads use HTTPS in transit. Public cloud links and codes permit access to their associated documents; they are not restricted to the original sender. Private-transfer endpoints use separate upload and download authorization, private storage, request and file-size limits, and server-checked access expiry. Local Wi-Fi sharing uses HTTP and depends on the security of your network. These methods do not provide end-to-end encryption. No internet or local-network service can guarantee absolute security, uninterrupted access, or recovery. Keep confidential documents local or use a trusted private destination.
Scanning does not require a Sothik account. License keys and activation status are stored locally. If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any information you voluntarily provide, and use them to respond to your request.
Sothik Scan is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. You may decline camera access, select only specific images, use local export without PC transfer, adjust device advertising/privacy controls, or stop using the app. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data to us.
